The Icewalk Train Tour deal is the ideal way to see one of Jasper's most outstanding features in the winter "The Frozen Maligne Canyon" from the ground up.  As well as exploring a little further abroad on the "Via Skeena" into beautiful British Columbia, travelling right past the Canadian Rockies highest peak "Mount Robson'.

Jasper Train Tour-Dunster Station

Take time to go beyond Jasper National Park and soak up the views of the Canadian Rockies on this unique combination of sightseeing tours by both train and luxury mini-bus.  First, Via Rail’s Skeena train will transport you along the banks of the Fraser River into Beautiful British Columbia’s Robson Valley. Upon arrival at the Dunster B.C. train station (approximately 3 hours on board the train), you will be greeted by your guide and vehicle for the return portion of your journey to Jasper. Travelling the Yellowhead highway back to Jasper involves multiple stops such as Rearguard Falls, famous for being the easternmost waterfall which the salmon ascend during their journey from the Pacific Ocean to their spawning grounds; and Mount Robson, the tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 metres (12,970 feet). Each stop offers incredible photo opportunities plus a chance to get some fascinating information from your guide about the rich history, geology, and ecology of the region.

Departures: Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays -pick ups between 12:00 p.m.-12:15 p.m

Jasper Train Tour-McBride Station

BN-VIA-Rail-Winter newThis second train tour option is slightly longer than the Dunster Station tour, offered on different days and in the reverse direction!  This train tour variation will have you start off from Jasper on a guided sightseeing tour and return to Jasper on the Via Skeena Train departing from the McBride B.C. Train station.  Similar photo opportunities will be provided, with Rearguard Falls and Mount Robson ranking high on the list.  Explore a little further into British Columbia along the Robson Valley with the snow capped Cariboo Mountains on one side, the majestic Rocky Mountains on the other as you make your way to the quaint McBride Train Station.

Departs: Saturdays only pick-ups between 11:00 am-11:15 am
Duration: 6-7 Hours

Both Train Tours offer incredible photo opportunities and a chance to interact with our friendly, professional guides who will share their knowledge of the rich history, geology, and ecology of the region. 

Cancellation fee:   24 hours before departure; refundable less a $25.00 + applicable taxes service charge.  Within 24 hours non-refundable.  A $25.00 plus applicable taxes will also be applied for any reservation date changes.  DOME CAR SEATING CANNOT BE GUARANTEED

Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour

The Maligne Canyon Icewalk is a must-do activity while visiting Jasper!   Imagine walking on a frozen river bed at the bottom of the deepest accessible canyon in Jasper National Park.  You will witness towering frozen waterfalls, ice caves, and incredible ice formations.  Your Icewalk tour guide will amaze you with information about Jasper's Maligne Valley, the Karst topography of the area and the mystery of “disappearing” Medicine Lake.  This winter adventure is sure to impress! 

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour is a great option for anyone who does not ski or snowboard.  Whether you are in Jasper for a day or a week, the icewalk is offered 3 times and day, so you could get a full morning of skiing on the slopes and than participate on and Icewalk in the afternoon or evening.  The Icewalk Tour covers approximately 3.5 kms (2.1 miles) and is mostly downhill.  Participants are required to dress appropriately for the weather.  Transportation is included and pick-ups are available from all Jasper accommodations.  Please indicate your shoe size when booking as warm boots and ice cleats will be provided. 

Departure: 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. daily
Duration: 3-3.5 hours
